Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure

Effective date: October 31, 2026

This site is free to read because of labeled ads (Google AdSense). We may also earn a commission from some links, at no extra cost to you. Every paid or affiliate link is labeled next to the link, and money never decides what our guides say.

Ads

We show ads from Google AdSense. Every ad is labeled “Advertisement.” Ads don’t appear on our About, author, Editorial Standards, Legal, Contact, Privacy, Cookie Notice, Terms or Disclosure pages. We don’t choose the individual ads Google shows, and an ad, including an ad for insurance, a loan or a service contract, isn’t a recommendation from us.

Affiliate and paid links

Some pages may include affiliate or other paid links. If you click one and sign up or buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When a page has one:

  • the page says so near the top, before the first paid link;
  • the link itself is labeled (for example “affiliate link” or “paid link”) and marked rel=”sponsored”;
  • this page is updated to name the kinds of programs we work with.

Our topics affect your money, so the same rules apply to every program: the facts and official sources in a guide come first, a partner never reviews or approves what we write, and a paid link is never presented as advice for your situation. Car Bills Explained is not an insurer, lender, broker, dealer or agent; we don’t sell insurance, loans or service contracts, and we don’t sell your personal information as leads. Where a state requires a license for a kind of referral, we follow that state’s rules.

What we promise

  • We point out when something is free (for example, weekly credit reports at AnnualCreditReport.com), so you don’t pay a middleman by mistake.
  • We don’t accept payment for a guide’s facts, a review or a place in a comparison. If we ever compare companies or tools, we’ll explain how we chose them.
  • If a company ever gives us something or pays us, we’ll say so on that page.

Our own company

Car Bills Explained is made by Top Rank ROI LLC, which also sells website and marketing services to local businesses. If we mention those services on this site, we label it clearly as “our own service.”

Education only: general information, not insurance, legal or financial advice for your situation. Car Bills Explained is not an insurance company, lender, broker, agent or dealer, and we don’t sell policies, loans or service contracts. Rules, prices and coverage vary by state and by company, so read your own documents, check the official agency we link, or ask a licensed professional before you act. We may earn money from labeled ads and labeled affiliate links; that never changes our facts or sources.
